What to take to college:

As we promised, we are your one stop solution for everything related to coming to college. Here’s another small post dealing with what you can, should, should not, and definitely should not bring to college. We aren’t Amazon yet, so we haven’t started taking orders online, but for everything else, you know where to come to. So coming to the point, what should you take to college?

Documents:
You need to get some docuements for verification in almost all institutions after reporting, so don’t forget to take those. Make a checklist of all that the college demands, and check each one carefully and make sure you have each and everything kept neatly in a file.

Clothes:
Yes, way too obvious. You need to wear them because the social norms dictate that you do. And to wear them in college, you need to bring them to college. This is more or less stating the obvious, but then since we deal with everything, why not?

Curtains and bedding:
Again, this is quite obvious, and some colleges may even provide bedding, but since its disgusting af, better to carry your own. Cleanliness and homeliness in one package, what more could you ask for in college?

Mattress, pillow, etc. :
Now this is where things get tricky. Bringing a mattress to college is too much work, and is often inconvenient. Do ask your seniors whether they sell it on campus, or do you need to bring it along. If you need to, buy it from somewhere outside, and if you feel it’s absolutely necessary, bring it from home. You just can’t sleep on wood comfortably right? So that’s that.

Plates, spoons and Tumblers. Also, buckets, mugs etc. Did I forget to say pens and stationery? :
Yes, all these things. Plates, spoons, tumblers, buckets, mugs, toiletries, stationery, things to eat etc. the list is endless, and you’re going to forget something or the other. But then that’s totally okay. You’ll find them in campus or somewhere nearby even if you forget. And why to bring all of it might seem quite obvious, except for the plate maybe, so for that we’d suggest coming to college and experiencing why it’s absolutely essential to own. ??

To laptop or not to laptop?
This is a question that bugs everyone, and there is no simple answer to it. Whether to carry a new one, or to buy one in college, or to use the old one? What to do what not to do? What I’d personally suggest is not to bring one in the first sem, since that’s when you should go out of your room the most, roam around, make friends, enjoy and get to know what the campus offers. All that would be highly restricted if you decide to bring a laptop and stick to DC all day. Oh wait, I was not supposed to mention DC. DC is magic, and you’ll learn more about it once you get here. Which one to buy? Depends on your branch and the budget, and what you wish to do in college. Again, asking seniors is the best way to know this.

The most important thing now, BRING AN OPEN MIND TO CAMPUS:

Coming to college, you’ll see a lot of new things, things you’ve not seen before, things you like, things you don’t etc. Do go there with an open mind, and be open to people from different places, languages, backgrounds, among others, and be open to newer experiences. “interactions” do happen, and take them in your stride, they help you make friends and yourself come out as more confident.

So this is us simply telling you what to bring to college, but remember, a few colleges don’t allow a few things, or ask you to bring some things compulsorily. Do find out about that and don’t forget to carry those.
