It is the most important decision one has to make, the decision oftaking a drop. Some students, inspite of getting shortlisted for IIt's counselling, think of taking a drop, in order to go to top 3 or 4. For them, literally, as much I have seen and experienced, there is really no need of the same. If you are geting a good branch in the new IIt's , you must take it, as I have often stressed upon in my previous articles.
This question is bound to make its way, if the students fail to make a cut to the esteemed institutions. A coin always has two sides. The reason I am saying it is for one to understand, that the next attempt can be better, but it can also end up being worse, with an increased mental pressure. I really won't suggest to go for a drop , if you can make it to any reputed college in the country. It is your later hard work, which will pay rich dividends. You may take your time to decide on what to pursue, and grab the opportunity, at the best place possible. With the increasing number of institutions in the country, one has many many options, and good ones . You may get good colleges on the basis of your board's performances even. What has happened has happened, and think on what can be the best or you. If one feels, that he or she can really boost up in the coming year. and the result will certainly be better, then you can go for the drop option. But, remember, these days, it doesn't make much of a difference, as the trends are changing, which one realizes after spending an year or two in graduation. All the students start at the same level, no doubt , the institutions make a difference,but exploring the best, is up to you, the knowledge you can gain, the more practically sound you can become, is all upto you.
So, think wisely, analyse all your options. It would be the best, if , without wasting an important year, you can get admission to a good college , and then start towards your goal , with a fresh year.
If you think, you are not getting anywhere, and you certainly deserve better, then go for the drop option, but what i want is for one, to be clear , and to know each and every thing about what they are doing and were they can end up being.
Life is certainly not over with one bad result . Decide wisely.
