BITSAT Preperation Tips

March 3, 2016

So here it is, BITSAT has finally hit the exam halls, offering all of you a chance to get into any of the BITS campuses, at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad by proving your mettle. So how to go about it, and what are the last minute tips that would ensure the best performance? These questions often haunt all of you, and that’s exactly what we would be addressing this time. So do not worry, read on and we promise you it will be worth your time right before the exam.

1)    *Time Management* This is kept at number one, because it is the number one thing to be kept in mind during BITSAT. More questions than JEE main or advanced, and the same time span implies less time per question, therefore it is absolutely essential that you do everything you know, and read each and every question at least once. Leave all that you think would consume time, and come back to it later. By now you would probably be aware of your strengths and weaknesses, so tackle those problems which lie in your strong areas first, and hit the bullseye as many times as you can. I cannot emphasise on how important accuracy is.

2)    *Watch the syllabus* This is something which is pretty obvious, but is often ignored. Since most of you have been preparing for JEE and give BITSAT as a fail-safe measure, watching the syllabus here seems moot, and therefore very few people do it. On the contrary, it is quite important since it helps you know what topics you can skip right before the exam day, and what topics demand more attention.

3)    *English and Logical Reasoning* Now this is exclusive to BITSAT, so doesn’t get the importance it deserves. They are a full set of 15 questions, which comprise of 45 marks, and gaining a full 45 often proves to be the difference between getting the branch you want at the campus you want, and not securing a seat at all. So practice English and Logical Reasoning from some study materials, it would definitely help a lot.

4)    *Exam Simulation* Exam simulation, or taking sample tests in a setting similar to that which you might face in the actual BITSAT is also quite helpful, and lets you know where you stand among the crowd, and also simulates the stressful exam environment, and being prepared in that regard is what would bring out the best in you.

5)    *Sleep, Breathe, and Relax* For any exam, this is the easiest way to ensure you are at your best when the question paper shows up. Sleep early before the exam, keep yourself in a well-rested state and do not let the tension seep in and take away what is essentially yours, pay attention to yourself, it will definitely pay you back. In closing, no exam is too hard, it’s just what goes in your head in those 3 hours that counts, and this one single hall and this one slot of 3 hours is what culminates your effort of the past 2, 3 or more years. There’s nothing stopping you from reaching out and grabbing your dream seat, so go ahead and show the world what you are made of.

All the best.!
